  28. A few months ago, a memory expansion board that was designed
  29. for the 520ST was announced in this news group.  I think
  30. it was designed by someone who works at Moncam in the UK.
  31.  
  32. I am writing to ask if you or someone you know has had any
  33. experience installing this little thing in a 1040ST.
  34.  
  35. A friend of mine has this and has not yet been able to get
  36. things to work yet.  Any tips would be appreciated!

  145. The traditional manner to tell if GDOS is loaded or not, for versions
  146. 1.0 and higher, is to implement the following assembly language routine.
  147. That's probably what your compiler has hidden behind that call of yours ;-).

  283.      I just got 32 1MBitx1 DRAMS, that I would like to expand my 1040ST's
  284. memory with.  I took a quick look through Start Magazine for memory
  285. kits, and I saw 4 of them.  They were:

  287. 1) Tech Specialties
  288. 2) New World Upgrade
  289. 3) Arco Board
  290. 4) Z-RAM 3D/4Meg
  291.  
  292.      Has anybody any experience with any of these upgrade kits, they
  293. could fill-in the Net about.  Like, how easy was it to install?  Was
  294. there any soldering/trace cutting involved?  How reliable has the memory
  295. upgrade been?  Did it interfere with any other upgrade boards installed?

  322. The 40 folder bug works something like this:  If during one session,
  323. you "visit" more than 40 or so folders, the system gets confused
  324. and can not find directories and files.  When that happened to me
  325. I turned the system off and did a cold boot, and the system then
  326. was able to find things again.  The program FOLDR100 changes the
  327. problem into a 100 folder bug.  If you have more than 100 folders,
  328. you simply up the number.  Currently I have my program named
  329. FOLDR300.PRG.

  386. I agree.  This is, unfortunately, something Atari can't officially
  387. support, because it's possible that some drain bramaged software out
  388. there acutally uses GEMDOS i/o for the serial port (even though it's
  389. slow) instead of  BIOS.  Please drum up lots of support from lots of
  390. developers on this issue, and test all of the supported software out
  391. there that uses the serial port to make sure that it doesn't break,
  392. and then Atari will support standard error standard handle 2.

  417. It isn't much help for world-wide cities, but a road atlas, such as that made
  418. by Rand McNally is a decent source of latitude and longitude information for
  419. U.S. cities (and Canada and Mexico).  You should be able to get reasonably
  420. accurate latitude and longitude readings from the various maps in the atlas.
  421. I suppose that there is an equivelant source for cities in the rest of the
  422. world.
